Work in Progress Chart
Have we started too much at once?
The chart shows, for each calendar day, how many work items were in an In Progress status. Each day is a snapshot, not a running total, so the line goes down as well as up. An optional trend line shows the average daily total per week or month.
Which work items count on a day
A work item from the chosen project or saved filter counts on a day when the last status it had that day is in Jira's In Progress category and it was not resolved on or before that day. Its status on each day is rebuilt from its status history. A work item that enters and leaves an in-progress status on the same day does not count for that day. Statuses that no longer exist count as not in progress.
Display mode
"Aggregated" shows one line, "In progress". "By status" shows one stacked area per in-progress status, in alphabetical order.
Time window
The last N days, today included, at most 180 days. Today's value counts up to now.

Opening work items
Click a day to open the work items in that series on that day, up to 300. Jira shows them as they are now, so many of the work items from an earlier day will already be done. The trend line is not clickable.
